Honest Boundaries & Open Problems

What we have not solved

At dhi, we believe defining what a system must never attempt is as important as building what it can. Here are the boundaries we respect and the open problems we have deliberately not automated away.

Boundary 01

The Hallway Conversation and Unspoken Context

Not all reasoning happens in formal meetings, emails, or recorded calls. People negotiate terms over coffee, test ideas in corridors, and establish trust through years of unspoken context.

dhi does not attempt to surveil informal human interactions. Where context was never stated in a captured medium, dhi records the gap rather than hallucinating an explanation.

Boundary 02

Distinguishing Policy Drift from Deliberate Strategy

When three consecutive credit committees grant the same pricing waiver, is it dangerous policy drift or an intentional, unwritten shift in commercial strategy to win a market segment?

dhi surfaces the pattern: three waivers granted independently in twelve months. It never presumes to judge commercial intent. It leaves that conclusion to your risk committee.

Boundary 03

Zero Surveillance of Individual Performance

If a customer alleges mis-selling on a call, or if a committee decision encounters a loss, there is an immediate corporate temptation to turn AI into an employee monitoring system.

No finding in dhi is ever about a person. Findings describe decisions, cases, and processes. A person is not a permitted subject in our data model - enforced by code, not just promised in policy.

Boundary 04

Surfacing Precedent Without Replacing Human Authority

A system that recommends an approval or casts a score introduces hidden model risk that can compound institutional failure.

dhi produces no scores, no ratings, and no automated approvals. It surfaces relevant history and dissent; human executives decide what that history means for today's judgment.

One thing we have chosen not to solve

We keep disagreements rather than resolving them. Ask about a contested subject and you get both positions and the people who held them. That asks more of you than a single confident answer would - and some people would rather have the wrong answer quickly.

CONTROLLED DEPLOYMENT

Verify our boundaries in shadow mode

Every pilot begins in shadow mode. Test what dhi surfaces and what it deliberately withholds before anything is delivered.
